Saxophone Man, written, recorded and performed (except the saxophone) by Vasaturo III
Saxophone player, Joe Vasaturo IV
Saxophone man was written for my son Joey when he was 14, he's 15 now, so that we could play together. I don't normally sing or write songs in that key but I did it for him and he's very happy. We'll be playing this song along with many other originals for a 45 minutes at Little Red Barn Brewery on the 31st of this month at 6:00, we're opening. The place will be jammed so please get there early for good seating. We're playing this event because it's a charity for Joey's school otherwise it's rare to hear me playing out anywhere. Hope to see you all there.
Lyrics
VERSE
I WAS WALKING DOWN MAIN STREET, ON A SATURDAY NIGHT
PEOPLE WALKIN ON BY, UNDER THE STREET LIGHTS
I SAW A LITTLE CAFÉ, SO I STEPPED RIGHT INSIDE
YOUNG MAN PLAYIN A SAXOPHONE, AND HE WAS BLOWING MY MIND
HE SOUNDED SO GOOD, WITH EVERY NOTE HE'D PLAYED
SO ORDERED A TALL DRINK, AND GOT LOST IN HIS SERENADE
CHORUS
MAN ON THE SAXOPHONE, HITTIN' ALL THE RIGHT TONES
HE'S CUTTIN THROUGH MY FLESH, RIGHT DOWN TO MY VERY BONE
HE GOT A LITTLE CLOSER, TO THE MICROPHONE
HE WAS A STAR ON STAGE, PLAYIN’ ALL ALONE
EVERYONE GOT QUIET, WHEN HE BLEW THAT SWEET SOUND
I COULD HEAR A PIN DROP AND MY HEART POUND
AS PLAYED LIKE THIS……
SAX SOLO
VERSE
I ASK THE WAITRESS, WHAT'S THAT YOUNG MANS NAME
SHE SAID I DON'T KNOW, BUT HIS PLAYIN' IS iNSANE
AND AFTER HE FINISHED, EVERYONE'S CLAPPING THEIR HANDS
SOME WOMAN YELLED OUT, I'VE GOT TO HAVE THAT MAN
HE DIDN'T NEED NO ONE ELSE, HE WAS A ONE MAN BAND
YEAH HE'S THE MAN
SAX SOLO
I hope you all enjoyed listening to it as much as I loved composing it.
